Topographic Resonance was produced by rotating a Gongshi (Chinese Scholar’s Rock) on a turntable. The rock was photographed at every ten degree turn to generate thirty-six images. The images were used to trace the left and right outline of the rock from it’s highest to lowest point, producing two sets of layered drawings. Each of the seventy-two composite lines from the drawings were digitally scanned and translated into audio material to compose a seventy-two minute soundscape.
